Hello, I plan to build a PC pretty soon. Thos seeking help,
I only plan to play WoW: Warlods of Draenor, while streaming.

So, for WoW running Ultra Settings at 1920x1080, all while Twitch stream is running (I don't mind dropping the shadows from Ultra to High or even Medium since they are not that noticable anyway, but lets keep it on ultra for this question).

Having an i7-4770k overclocked at, lets say, 4.0Ghz or 4.2Ghz against an i7-4790 at stock (3.6GHz) have that much more of an impact regarding the game FPS and even the stream itself? Or doesn't it gain that much from the K series to be worth spending more money on the CPU itself, plus a Watercooler and even a better MoBo if the MSI G-43 isn't enough?

Anyone tried and can post some FPS and feedback between the both?

Solution
Out of the box the 4790 is a bit faster, though you can almost compare the 3,6Ghz 4790 to a 4770K overclocked to 3,6Ghz, The 4770K, plus the Z87-G45 & a Corsair H60 or just a Hyper 212 EVO, the H60 will get you past 4Ghz and the EVO idunno how it performs specificly, probably a 4Ghz overclock.

FPS is not really going to be any different in games, and WoW is a game that runs on a old dual-core fairly easily, Think even a i5 would do, though i don't know about how well it streams games.

The hyperthreading benefits the stream, that's for sure, but I don't know if those 0.5GHz or even 0.7GHz more would give me a better performance on WoW and stream to be worth the money...

That's what I'm trying to figure out. :S

Thanks for the answer :)

if you want a solution in this performance class but a bit cheaper then yes, the i7 4790 would be fairly cheap, also because you won't need a Z97 mobo for it, if you're ready for a BIOS update, then a B85, H81, H87 will also do you good, ASRock made some non-overclocking gaming boards you might want to check out. 😉
