Im toying with the idea of what to build my new pc around. I've gone from a FX-6300 to a I5-4570k back to a FX-8320 and then to a I5-3570k and back to the FX-6300. My problem is my budget. I have a budget of $1000 excluding the case. I also kind of want to but its not 100% necessary i want to fit a Radeon R9 290 into the build though it is probably overkill for 1080p gaming. The setup im looking at right now is:

Amd FX-6300(Will OC) $120
Radeon R9 290 $400
MSI 990FXA-GD80 $162
Thermaltake SMART series 750w PSU $80
8gb Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 $55
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo $35
GELID Solutions GC-VGA02-01(Graphics cooler to fix R9 290 Problems) $55
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm $70
Lite-on DVD Burner $17

That total comes out to 999.07 shipped with deals from newegg. So my question is is there a way to either redo or make something better for $1000 without going over?

***Update I have a second build that removes the hard drive since i have a 120gb SSD i can survive on for a while.
The processor is changed to: I5-4570k $240
The motherboard is changed to: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate LGA 1150

My friend gets 45-50fps on average on ULTRA on most games with a HD 7950 on a 1080p 120hz LCD tv. He gets 60+fps on high settings.
My lil bro gets 45-50fps on average on ULTRA on most games with a GTX 660ti on a 1080p 60hz LCD tv with his i3 2120.
That same friend's brother gets a little over 30fps on ULTRA on most games with a HD 7850 @ 1080p.

I don't know why everybody thinks they need a GTX 780ti and an overclocked i5 4670k to game on 1080p.

I would wait a little bit till we get 290 cards with better coolers. It could save you 50 bucks which would get you an i5. A 6300 fully overclocked on a single monitor will imo just not be good enough to run a 290. About like my setup with an i3 and 7950 except you might bottleneck your card more. You could get it but I wouldn't.

Any of the cpus you have mentioned are plenty strong enough for any card on a single 1080p monitor. A R9 290 is overkill for 1080p and will not run games any better than a R9 280 will. Even 660tis and 7950s max most games @ 1080p. You know the i5 4670k will give you the most fps, but what's a few fps when you're over 80+ anyway.

Now if you jump up to triple 1080p setup, 1440p, or 1600p, then your FX 6300 will start to bottleneck your 290.

Will start to at tripple monitors? I'm sorry but no. BTW why does everyone keep saying 7950 is plenty good for 1 monitor? Its not! If you want to max most games with 30fps and no AA then OK yeah its good but 60fps is what most people truly want.
At OP: your update is a great idea! I would personally endorse ur build now

Thanks for the replies guys. I understand it's overkill for what I'm doing now but I'm building it to run for a while and to still kill it when I jump up to 1440p as of right now I will just have it hooked up to my 40" led tv at 1080p aside from that I think the i5 is what I'm gonna go with as the boards tend to have PCI 3.0 now I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes but still. I originally was looking at a gtx 770 build but the 770 I wanted was $15 less than the 290. Thanks for the input guys I love getting advice.

Exactly as CTurbo said. That FX won't bottleneck any card on a single monitor setup. If anything, the monitor will bottleneck your from seeing the card's full potential

I would also wait for the third-party designs of the 290 to come out, get a decent cooler on there. Other than that the build looks great.

For the larger resolutions, 1440p and 1600p, I recommend Intel over AMD. a K-model i5 or any i7.

I'm NOT saying AMD can't handle these resolutions, I'm just saying you'll start to feel AMD's weaker per core performance at these resolutions. I'm also not a fan over overclocking a processor within an inch of it's life, which is what needs to be done with AMD to stay competitive.

The only reason i was really considering AMD was that i thought that Steamroller might be AM3+, and the price to performance i mean the FX-6300 for $120 is extremely solid especially if overclocked.

If you live near a Microcenter, a 3570k for $149.99 is even better. :p
