Question Cpu or gpu for one game only pc build

Hello everyone,

My brothers current pc has given up which is a i5 4460 & r9 380.
He only plays World of tanks, and the pc will be used for light uni work and Google.

Need to build on a small budget, but also wants it to last as long as it can going into the future. He claims 8 years but I doubt he won’t upgrade in that time.

The choice so far is either an i5 12400f with a GTX 1070 (founders blower style edition) (cheap hand down from someone else)

Or

I3 12100f with a Rtx 3060ti ( this is the most expensive option)

Any advice would be appreciated

For a 1080p monitor the 1070 card will do fine even @1440p with some settings turned from ultra to high.

The i3 12100 would work fine.

Ultra Settings

• Operating system: Windows 7/8/8.1/10/11 (64-bit only).
• Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5-7400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500 X.
• Memory (RAM): 8 GB (or more).
• Video Card: GeForce GTX 1050ti (4 GB) / Radeon RX 570 (4 GB).
• Hard Disk: ~ 100 GB free space.
