CPU or GPU upgrade first?

Hello everyone!

I was just looking to get some opinions about my upcoming upgrades.

I am currently running an older gaming pc with a FX-6300 and an R9 270X

My question is should i upgrade the CPU or GPU first as the title says?

Im planning on upgradeing the other part after but i would like to know what would get me the best performance increase if only that part was upgraded.

As CPU i was thinking maybe a R7 1700X or similar
and as GPU i was thinking a GTX 1070 or 1080 depending on what prices i find where i live.

All answers are welcome and i hope this isnt too stupid of a question.

I would get the r5 1600X 6 cores 12 treads.
You can always cut the in game settings down some to get good FPS but if your CPU sux it dont help.

You'll benefit the most from the CPU upgrade first. No matter what GPU you have the 6300 is going to hold it back so it's best to take care of that before the GPU.
