Question CPU or GPU Upgrade

Hello everyone,

Just got a nice promotion at work and want to upgrade my exisiting pc. Currently have a i5-6500 with a gtx 1070, 16g ram and a 60hz 1440p monitor.

What does everyone recommend to upgrade first the cpu or the gpu? My budget at the moment is around £350 without getting in trouble with the wife!! When ive checked the cpu usage during gaming its constantly at 100% but I dont know whether its worth upgrading the gpu to say a rtx 2060 or do i upgrade the CPU to a ryzen 3600?

Im mainly just a gamer so not worried about streaming etc. Hope someone with more knowledge can help!!! Ultimately trying to acheive a smooth 60 fps on most game titles. Understand this wont happen with all games unless I spend a lot!!!

The 1070 is still a capable 1440P/60hz GPU so I'd probably go CPU/MB & possible RAM depending on what you have currently.

The motherboard works fine with the CPU despite the warning from PCPer.
