Hi.
Currently I am thinking about buying the GTX 770. I bought the Asus Ati Radeon 7750 1GB over a year ago and was looking to upgrade. Some will say there may be no need and this is why I post. Should I buy a new CPU instead ? Or will I buy this GPU ? ( Not 100% sure if it is compatible with my motherboard but you's can answer that as my specs are below! )

Thanks in advance !

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Motherboard - Asus M5A78L-MLX
GPU - Asus AMD Radeon HD7750 1GB
Power Supply - ATX - 500204

Please comment on my specs or whatever ! :)
I Play Day-Z, COD4 and Elder Scrolls :)

you certainly need to upgrade your psu before thinking about your gpu or cpu. a branded 600-650W psu will do wonder to your planned setup if you don't overclock and not planning for SLI. for the gpu,you can get away with a cheaper card like the GTX760 instead of the GTX770 if don't do extreme gaming. you can always OC the your fx cpu, that's what they're good for anyway or you can get the fx8350. it's definitely a bang for bucks cpu.

so do you think my current cpu is preventing the gpu from performing ? And what would a new power supply do to my current rig ?

your current build are fine, both cpu and gpu. your cpu doesn't bottleneck your current gpu. a new power supply would not improve anything with your current build. but you need a new one to power a gtx770 that you're aiming for. and the fx4100 will most definitely bottleneck the performance of gtx770 if you do upgrade your gpu hence the suggestion for an upgrade to your cpu as well.

okay so can you suggest a cpu that would run well with the 770 ? lets say i have the psu thats no problem i can get that. and what about a motherboard its going to have updated for a new processor too ? so i can you suggest a cpu to run along the gpu without bottleknecking it ? soory for the untidy response..

You need a new powersupply. Corsair, Antec, XFX, or Seasonic. You need 650watts, then you can support any Single GPU now or in the future. (hey, PSU have 5 to 7 year warranties so your going to have it a long time....)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 (this is one of the better low cost options...)

You need a new GPU. Changing your GPU will have THE largest effect on you FPS performance in games. If you can afford a GTX770 (or maybe a GTX 780 :) ) then go for it.

Get these two items, play some games, when the happiness fades... You can add maybe 5--10% more FPS with this next upgrade:

- you need a new copy of Windows 7 (yup, you can Not re-use your existing copy, its keyed to CPU/Motherboard...)
- CPU (get an Intel i5-4670k or i7-4770K for the current ultimate in CPU power)
- Motherboard (get a good Z series chipset mother board from ASUS, MSI, or Gigabyte)
- you need an aftermarket cooler, start out with something like the Cooler Master 212 EVO (even if you don't OC, keeps temps nice n cool and it FAR quieter than the stock cooler)
NOTE: do Not cheap out on the motherboard, you loose features, stability, and durability...

with the
Gigabyte G1.SNIPER A88X Socket FM2+ AMD A88X DDR3 ATX

should that work the same ? i wont have any problems ?

Different socket FM2+ only for AMD's APU's not FX.
