Cpu or Gpu

Im looking to upgrade my computer with black Friday deals... Looking for some advice on what would be the best upgrade strictly for gaming.

my pc has:
- gigabyte 870a-ud3 mobo
- phenom 965 black edition processor
- 6870 video card
-4gigs ram

computer is now around 4 years old and im looking to upgrade some things..

my budget is around 300-400$

What would be the best upgrade in terms of gaming performance? My old and outdated cpu/mobo or the outdated gpu? Or possibly somehow upgrading both for around the 400-450$mark?

I'm thinking the gpu will be the best upgrade but that processor is just so old
