Hello! I made and edited a YouTube video today to upload and started rendering I open CPUID HWMonitor before so that I could check everything was fine and I saw my CPU reach 100C! My CPU has never reached this before it's normally on 50C while Google Chrome is open with Photoshop,Skype,Steam (More) and at idel it runs at 30 - 27 C (I'm running a 4k monitor) Please help me fix, I've gotten a h100i CPU cooler so I know it's not my cooler, thanks!

Solution
Do you have some thermal paste handy?
If so i recommend following anort3's advice and reseat the cooler with new thermal paste after cleaning off what is already on there.
CPU cooler is either defective or not seated correctly. Use Realtemp to correctly check your temps and refer to the temp guide in my sig for more information.

http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/

If it really is that high clean the old thermal compound off and reapply it when you reseat the cooler.

This isn't the problem because it's normally fine, no matter what I do. This is the first time I've EVER seen it reach 100C.

Run Prime 95 small FFTs and see what it does. It may be that you never stressed the CPU before. And Realtemp was designed for Intel processors. It's the most accurate program to monitor them.

I ran a Burn-In-Test and my CPU went to 100% on "Task Manager" and it went up to 90C.

I ran all of these and they said the same temp as CPUID HWMonitor.

You should be seeing those temps with that cooler if you are overclocked at 4.7Ghz+. And that is under load from Prime 95 or IBT.

Even with the stock Intel cooler you should never see 90C under any load with the chip at stock speed.

The H100i has known issues with the backplate. Google it.

yes, but with your processor at stock speeds, you should be hitting nowhere near 90C.

Also im going to suggest that you not use Prime95 at all for stress testing Intel Haswell processors.

I highly recommend Aida64 or Intel Extreme Tuning Utility.

As I said in my first post reinstall the cooler.

And Prime 95 v26.6 is fine for Haswell. The link in my sig explains why.

Fixed problem, I re-installed thermal paste it helped alot. While Googlering around 37 - 42 C Before 50 - 56C (Because I'm running 4k) Now while rendering the hottest it got to was 73C and on the Intel website it says 73C is safe. Thanks for your help.
