Cpu overclock wait or upgrade

Currently I have a 6600k with an h170a motherboard. Should I upgrade to a z170 board and just oc the processor I have now or upgrade to the 8600k

You will need a Z370 board to overclock the 8600K. If you want to overclock on the i5 you currently have the Z170 will do. Please keep in mind that overclocking will require more power from the PSU and will dump heat into your case. Are you covered on those two aspects?

What is the make and model of your ram(s)?

Yeah im aware of the need for a z370 board to oc the 8600k. As for power and cooling on my current rig I’m definitely fine. I’ve got a Corsair h110 v2 on my cpu atm. As well as a ridiculous 1000w psu from when I had crossfire 290x amd cards. I have upgraded to a gtx 1070 since then. My case is a phanteks enthoo pro.
