Hello All,
I just overclocked my CPU to around 4.2ghz in my BIOS. Unfortunately, when I compare what I have done with CPU-Z I see that my CPU is at the same speed as (stock). So I went back to the BIOS and saw that my full 4.2ghz is available when my CPU is at "turbo boost" mode. First of all, I can't find the enable "turbo boost" mode switch and second of all, can I run this all the time?
Thx

well, we cant tell you if you can keep that oc without knowing the kind of cpu, how you're cooling it, and stress test results. now, the "turbo boost" only activates when its needed. modern cpus run slower when the extra horsepower isnt needed to save on power consumption. get yourself a cpu stress test to see if it can reach the oc you've given it. theres several kinds out there, just put it in to google and pick the free one you like.

when stress testing, you're looking for maintaining the full speed under load without thermal throttling, which is the cpu slowing itself to cool off, for an extended period of time. if it makes it 15 minutes, try for an hour. then 2...and really after that i'd be pretty happy. some people will say longer, but im impatient i suppose. after that, give it a few weeks to a few months of everyday use to be 100% sure its stable.
