CPU overclocking itself?

I have an i7 2670qm clocked at stock speeds (2.2ghz). Today, I checked it in task manager and saw it was clocked at almost 3ghz. What is causing this?

It has a turbo boost feature that will allow it to boost up to 3ghz temporarily if that power is needed.
