Alright so how exactly does it work. I have read guides and guides on this but since my MoBo sports a locked BIOS I cannot try it until I have built my new C2D system.

What I do know is that you can only overclock the FSB and every Mhz overclocked for the FSB * the multiplier = X amount of clock frequency added to your CPU's total frequency.

my question is this: How does a 1066 Mhz frontside bus go from 1066Mhz to ~266(?) when overclocking. I ask this because rwaitsdario told me an asus P5N32-E Sli would be able to overclock to ~500 to 525 FSB but that is less than 1066. did he mean adding 525 to the stock FSB or is the FSB some how divided by something when described in Overclocking?

thats 266 X 4 = 1064 or 1066 fsb
500 X 4 = 2000 fsb
FSB is quad pumped
before you start playing with all that expensive hardware do a little more research

Please don't take it that I have already started overclocking -I do not even have the parts yet and I wouldn't dream of overclocking anything without knowing at least a little bit about what I'm doing

Very useful link though :)

I actually kind of figured this out on my own in math class but i wasnt sure if I was correct. Thanks so much. Now i'm off to find the multiplier of an e6600 and ill be good to calculate an estimated max overclock.
