So recently my computer has been overheating, I turned it on this morning to see what temperature it booted at. RealTemp showed it to start at around 55-60 degrees C, normally I would expect it to be at this while playing games. It's about a year old machine now but it was working fine a week ago. No stress at all, around 50 degrees while playing League of Legends, now all of a sudden it boots up at 60 and within 10 minutes of idling it hits 105+ degrees C, seems a bit odd that this could happen all of a sudden, if anything I'd expect the temperature to go up gradually, over the course of a few years. Before I spend $20 on new thermal paste, does anybody have any solutions as to why it would hit such a high temperature so suddenly? I wouldn't even think the thermal paste would make the CPU hit that temperature.

- I have not overclocked or changed anything I do on the computer over the last few months.

This is what I think could be wrong:

- Thermal paste needs to be re-applied. (Seems to sudden to be thermal paste though)

- Somethings happened to the heat sink somehow and may need to be replaced (Seems fine though)

- Voltages need to be changed (Not sure how to do this, and why would it happen all of a sudden.

Solution
Well, get some paste and reseat your cooler, it's enough to have it displaced by even a bit to cause this crap and it can syddenly happen after all the years, because if you have Intel then it's held by some crummy push pins, which can get unhinged eventually.

yeah, doesn't sound like thermal paste to me either...is the fan on the heatsink spinning, that's kind of what the problem reminds me of.

Yeah I've done full virus scans and nothings been found.

CPU: intel i7 3770k

Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 670

Yeah all fans are running on max. Sounds like somebodies using a hair dryer in here.
