Hello, right after installing my new GPU (1080, had 980 before) I got the error message ''CPU over temperature Error''. And the CPU temp in BIOS says 88C.
I had no issues at all with CPU temps until I got my new GPU.

The CPU cooler im using is a nzxt kraken x62, which I got less than a year ago.
All fans are spinning.

I managed to boot the computer and the temps looks like this:

https://gyazo.com/e00eed280b44528d3cc9f886584e48

Its only the CPU temp that is high, all other temps are under 40C at idle.

EDIT: I actually now see in my CAM software that the pump RPM is at 0. So guess the pump is dead, any idea how this can have happend?

Solved: Changed my CPU cooler to a old CPU cooler I had and the temps are fine, not sure whats wrong with the cooler I had, hopefully warranty covers it.

Solution
I doubt you managed to damage the motherboard-since CAM is reporting the pump being non functioning then I would be investigating why its not working. I know you have checked but maybe triple check all connections including the Sata power and also the cable connecting directly to the pump itself. On a related note does the pump look like its getting power-rgb/logo lighting up?

The pump is not close to the GPU, and I checked all connections.
Might have damaged the MOBO somehow though?

Yea, I took everything apart and put it back togheter to see if I missed something but im 100% sure everything is connected now.

I unplugged the USB cable that goes directly to the pump, which I believe is for the RBG and restarted my PC then it said the pump was running. The CAM software is really bad so it might have been a bug there.

But now as im typing this the logo is not lighting up, but my CPU temp is around 60-75C and it says the pump is running. Unplugging and plugging the USB to the pump makes the logo light up again. BTW my case is open on both sides now that im testing stuff.

Saw that I forgot to mention what CPU I have its a skylake i7-6700.

EDIT: So everything is working the fans, the pump so should I try to close the case and see if that does anything, or should I just try to apply new thermal paste to see if that does the trick?

I just think its weird if it would be the thermal paste since the temps were fine before installing my new GPU.

EDIT: I now noticed when I booted the PC again the pump is only running at 900rpms and is jumping down to 400, 0 and stuff.
