So I am having a new issue with my Intel i7-4770K CPU overheating and thus under performing.
After starting up the PC and before any heavy programs are loaded up, the CPU runs well at 3500-3800 MHz Clock speed with 35-39 multipliers and a CPU temperature of 70-85 degrees C.
However, after I load up a game or some editing software, the multipliers begin to drop significantly to 8-15, which is drops the clock speed to 800-1500 MHz. I also noticed that when this happens the CPU temperature also rises to 91-98 degrees C.
I checked all the power management options and everything is set to Performance mode and 100% minimum.
I am guessing that the high CPU temperature is causing the CPU to drop in performance as a safety measure. Is this a fair assumption?
And if so, how do I determine if the issue is from my “Corsair Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid Cooling System” not functioning properly or my Power Supply malfunctioning causing overheating, or even another possible issue?
Any help and input is greatly appreciated!!!!
