Hey all, first time posting and newb, sorry if this is in the wrong category, i cant seem to navigate this site very well on mobile...
For background:
so i was playing a game and during that it started to lag pretty bad, i was confused bc my computer never lags on games like that so i gave it a quick restart. Upon booting up i got an error saying my cpu was overheating, and upon checking the bios it was hitting over 90C... ive never seen it get that hot before, ever
Turned my computer off, took out my corsair 55h and cleaned everything, removed old dried thermal paste, reapplied, put everything back good as new, but my cpu is still rising to high temps while doing absolutely nothing. If i remember right when i first got it itd idle at 35-40ish or so? And maybe go up to 60ish while gaming, not sure.
im wondering if maybe the pump of the corsair died, but im not sure, im really not good with computer things. Ive read that i should hear the pump, hear water, and or feel a vibration somewhere on it but i cant find any of these things.
So basically my question is, am i right to assume the pump is dead and should i grab a new cooler? Any recs to which new one i should get? Preferably nothing too expensive and something thatd be easy to install, idiot proof if you would.
or is there something else i should check to see if itd fix the problem?
pc specs if needed:
Intel core i7-4790 processor
ASUS Z97-K motherboard
Nvidia geforce gtx 960
Of course the corsair hydro h55
I think those are the only things thatd be relevent? Let me know if any other info is needed and thank you in advance to anyone that helps me with this
