CPU overheating crashing PC

Hello !
This is my first time here on Tom's hardware, I'm sorry if I do some mistakes in this post.

As title says I have a problem with overheating. I have a CPU FX8350 on a M5A97 Plus with 12 gb of ram and a gtx 750 ti. As I play recently games on High something happens with the cpu, it's going up to 63 Celsius grades then it shuts down the computer.On Hwmonitor idle temp for Cpu is 30 and 22 for Mb.
I have an EVO 212 installed on the cpu. I verified and it's set up allright. I've read that it could be VRM's fault or something like that? Also I wanted to update my Graphic card to a gtx 970 but this situation blocks me, what should I do?

Do you overclock the cpu? Use descent heat paste when installing?Fan plugged on cpu header? descent airflow through pc from fans? Nothing but paste between cpu/heatsink? Heatsink got tensioned down flat and squeezes the paste paper thin?

Sounds like either thermal paste has gone bad or the case does have insanely bad airflow. My money is on the former.

Remove the cooler, remove the old paste with a lint-free towel and some rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol, 70% or 90% doesn't matter) and apply new paste to the cpu (just a little blob in the center). Then remount the cooler (properly), ideally so that the fan points toward the front of your case (so that it can suck in air coming from the front fan and move the hot air toward the exhaust fan in the back.)

That's a terrible CPU. It's expensive, hard to find (for good reason) and it uses the same ancient architecture as the 8350, only it draws even more power and isn't even that much faster. I'd rather wait for Zen.

Thanks a lot for the answers, I changed the thermal paste and it seems to work better, still high around 57-59 but no more shut downs.

You only need to worry if a CPU get to 80C really.
