CPU overheating in games

I have an old Core i7 3770K Ivy Bridge, and according to MSI afterburner on-screen display, it heats up to 90-100 *C in games like Tom Clancy's The Division.

I am using a Corsair H100i water cooler.

And no, my CPU is NOT overclocked, it is running at factory settings.

Obviously something is very wrong.

What does your CPU utilization look like in-game?

Definitely getting hot.

Are the fans still spinning? Is the pump working? How old is the thermal paste?

Utilization is 30-45%

Improper mounting (i.e. insufficient clamping pressure) of the waterblock-pump assembly against the CPU's heatspreader.

The temperature of my graphics cards are normal (around 60-70 *C)

Theres a few possible causes

Not getting enough air flow through the radiator
Bad thermal grease
Not properly mounted
Failed/failing pump

Before you screwed on the waterblock-pump assembly was the backplate mount loose/wobbly or was it snug?

How do I check to see if the pump is working?

I didn't install it, technicians at an electronics store did.

If the bios has a fan monitor see if you are getting any rpms from the port the pump is running from. Or use Corsair Link to check it.

Corsair link says that my pump is running at 2336 RPM.
