Hello guys!

Here is my config:
i5 2500K, Asus P8P67 Pro, MSI GTX 970, 8GB ROM, Corsair 850W, Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD and 1 TB Hitachi HDD.

Now, i've been playing Dark Souls 3 lately and it was all good and fine until reached a location called Cleansing Chapel. Then after 30 min or so the game stuck with a hissing sound and i needed to restart my pc. When restarted, a BIOS warning came up - Your CPU is overheated!
I waited 15 min and tried again. Played for like 15 min and again - same thing.

I checked with freeware temperature programs and my CPU cores reach 80F each time i just launch the game.

Do any of you has a solution how to solve this overheating problem?

Solution
Thats a pretty low end cpu cooler as far as iam aware. However did you already clean it? Dust could have a huge negative impact on cooling performance. Also, did those temperatures also happen in the past, when playing higher demanding games? You're probably going to need a better cooler but I do not want to make any false predictions yet.
Hi could you post what cpu cooler you have fitted on you i5 2500K cpu 7r1bb1e.

Do you have the I5 2500K overclocked, and if you do can you post what frequency it is running at, and what the core voltage of the cpu is set to.

Also list if you have any case cooling fans in the system, and how may and in what configuration push, pull.
And how new is your system, a few weeks old ?

A cpu cooler i have is Alpine Pro Rev.2. The processor is not overclocked.
My case is CollerMaster HAF912(ATX Midtower) - http://us.coolermaster.com/product/Detail/case/mid-tower/haf-912.html

My system is 4-5 years old, except for GTX970 which is only 6 months old.

Its a pretty base cooler i agree. What would you recommend buying now to lower the temperatures?

I never cleaned the cooler, but i think i can do it. Will update on this.

In the 5 years that i own this pc, i never had any overheating probs with CPU. I had couple of overheating problems with my previous GTX 570, but that about it.

Yea, definately go for cleaning b4 buying a new one. However if you end up buying I'd go for a medium one, since you wont do heavy oc'ing as i expect.
There are plenty good cooler. I personally liked the alpenfoehn brocken 2 alot. Pretty silent, good performance and you could actually oc a little bit. Its also not expensive either.
Uh, and b4 buying a cooler always make sure it fits in your case :). This one is pretty big as far as i can remember.

Unfortunately i dont have this model available in my country. Do you have any other cooler suggestion? Is it reasonable to go for water cooling?

Where do you live, gonna find sth.. Liquid cooling is only for heavy oc's in my opinion. Low end water coolers are mostly outperformed by air for around the same price. Also without better fans the majority of the AIO water coolers are damn loud.
Edit: Concerning water cooling vs air cooling, there are plenty of discussions on the internet, I honestly cannot write too much, since Iam on my mobile phone right now.

I read an interesting thing on Toms forums today. I got this virus called viceice yesterday that it is impossible to remove using any tools known. Now, one of the users in Toms forums reported the virus affects CPU usage.
Can it be connected?

I finally solved the problem by replacing my old cooler(damn those pushpins) to CoolerMaster HYPER 212X. The temperatures now vary between 35 at IDLE and 50 when gaming.
Thank you everyone for the help!
