for the past month the processor has been overheating like crazy the CPU fan goes to 100% over 25% CPU usage and it's not because the fan is set to that but because at 30% the CPU goes to over 55 degree Celsius and i think the fan in good condition the one thing i can think of is that the thermal past between the heat sink and the CPU is all dried out it's going on 2 year now ,could that be it or what do i need to do? ty for helping me

Thermal paste usually doesn't have to be replaced if the cooler hasn't been touched. How do you know the paste has dried out? You removed the cooler and reinstalled it without cleansing the old paste and applying new paste? Another possibility is a cooler that no longer makes full contact with the CPU, but that's easy to fix.

I have amd FX-6300 . the fan goes to max at 30% usage. thank you for answering me :)

thank you for the answer buddy .. i did remove the fan but only after the problem appeared and you r right that made it worse . I will try to change the thermal past after cleaning the old one but if that didn't work , does that mean there is something wrong with the cpu? thanks again

When applying thermal paste, use very little; it should only fill the voids between the heat sink and the CPU, it shouldn't isolate them. My preferred method is to apply very little paste and spread a very very thin layer with an old credit card. It's OK if you see a bit through the paste because too much usually causes more issues then not enough.
