hello guys, i recently bought a pre assembled PC and wanted to of course play some games. now, the games are running fine (GTA 5, Skyrim with Shaders) but the temps are getting ridiculously high. 95c was the highest i had yesterday. the idle temps start off around 30c but once i have stuff open like spotify, steam, firefox it goes up to 45c.
Now, i allready ordered a aftermarket cooler and it will arrive tuesday. will the aftermarket cooler fix my issue?
My CPU is a Intel quad core i7 4790.
my OS is Windows 10.

Solution
Even the stock cooler should do better than that unless your PC is in a very hot room or has very bad airflow. Probably taking the cooler off, cleaning off the old thermal paste and applying new would have most likely have helped but no point now until your new cooler arrives. Remember when your new cooler comes you need to properly clean off all the old paste before applying the new cooler.
did you assemble it yourself? Are you sure the heatsink is fitted securely and the compound is applied correctly? Try running Prime95 and see what the temps reach. Which aftermarket cooler did you order? also which mobo is it?
