[SOLVED] CPU overheats with sealed cooler installed.

I’ve just installed a new Corsair H55 in my PC and when I checked the BIOS I saw my CPU temperature skyrocket. In a panic, I turned off the PC and when I tried to turn it back on my PC posted but it turned off after a few seconds. I think I’ve just effed my CPU. Please help!!

First off, CPUs shut down to prevent damage, so the CPU itself is most likely fine (based on what you've described).

For the cooler, did you connect the pump to a fan header on the motherboard? If not, the pump isn't running - so it's not cooling anything.

This may sound stupid but did you remove the plastic covering off the heatsink before installing it?

Okay. It turns out I forgot to take out the plastic things you clip your stock cooler into. Thanks for replying though!
