cpu overvoltage error on first power up asus motherboard

when i switch on my power supply and turn on the pc i always get cpu overvoltage error on the first power up , when i check the bios its say cpu core voltage 1.8v and the voltage will slowly decrease to 1.45 v after 10 minutes and i can boot up to the os. i tried changing psu, i still get the same error. but when i don't switch off the psu it will boot normally no cpu overvoltage error. the error only happen when i turn off my psu. works normally if i leave the psu on.

I also tried manually setting cpu core voltage to 1.45v , still have the error.

so my question is whether my motherboard faulty or its normal for cpu overvoltage on first power up?

pc specs: (i bought the parts last week except for the EVGA psu used for 6 months)
cpu- ryzen 7 2700x
cpu cooler- wraith prism
mobo- asus rog strix b450 f gaming
ram- 2x8gb g.skill sniper x 3200mhz
gpu- gigabyte gtx 1070 mini itx
ssd- sandisk ssd plus 240gb
1st psu- evga 700watt 80 plus bronze
2nd psu- fsp hyperk 500 watt 80 plus

It is NOT normal to get CPU overvoltage unless you changed the voltage settings.

That's definitely a strange problem you got there. Since you tested with a different PSU, we can probably rule that one out. As such, the only thing I can think of would be a faulty mobo. Do you have any other motherboards you can test those components with?

i only have one motherboard its still under warranty

That's not a PSU issue.
The Ryzen CPUs are programmed to change voltages automatically. If the CPU detected unsafe voltages it would have shutdown the system to protect it.

What you are seen might be the XFR feature trying to find maximum performance, so if you see a voltage spike here and there that won't be a big deal.
As you saw, the CPU goes back down according to how it was programmed.
In some cases the BIOS is not showing the right data and the motherboard could have a bug or it could be faulty.
Make sure to have the latest BIOS update and when you do reset BIOS to default.

im using the latest version 0602 bios and load optimized defaults

I also tend to think it's not anything that's easily fixed.
Although I don't know if I could justify a new MB just for that.
...on top of that....you haven't hurt anything so far (at least, that we know of) and you may never hurt anything.

All that being said....I would either run with it on all the time....or shut down and power up and wait 10 minutes....and see what happens. Maybe nothing will ever happen.

The other option I can think of would be to swap the MB....but I don't think I would rush into doing that for just this problem.

That's a valid concern.
...but it hasn't been damaged yet and may never be damaged.

So you have to weigh that risk (which we really don't know what that risk is) versus the pain in the ass of RMAing a MB.

i dont know what to do, how long to rma a asus motherboard? and should i set cpu core voltage monitoring to ignore in the bios to get rid of the error ?

Well...you have to consider not just the time...but your labor to remove it and install it and hopefully not encounter any new problems doing this.

I agree that it's a tough decision.
