I have a 4670k processor, and a gigabyte mobo (z87x-ud4h). I set the c6/c7 state enabled in the bios with c1e and eist ON, and throttlestop shows that i use core c-state c7 on all cores, but my package c-state never goes lower than c0...what can be the.problem? Turned everything off, no utorrent, sound card, power mode is on balanced. Incegrated video card was set on and off...nothing. It just shows package c-state c0 97-20%..no c3 or c6...if my psu can handle core c-state 7 than it should work with package c-state as well doesn't it? I have a chieftec ctg-80p 550 w psu. Thanks for the answers.

Manufacturers can decide to do whatever they want. It looks like Gigabyte decided to disable the Package C States on your motherboard. The package C States do save power but they can also cause light load stability issues, especially when overclocking. On some motherboards, the package C States might get disabled by the bios as soon as you do any overclocking just to be on the safe side.

If the button in the ThrottleStop - C State - Package C State Limit section is grayed out, that means that Gigabyte has also locked this register to prevent users from accessing the Package C States.

At the moment, my Lenovo Y510P 4700MQ is using Package C2 and Package C3 but Package C6 and Package C7 are disabled. Package C6 is usually available but Package C7 has never worked. If I reboot, Package C6 would probably start working again.

Edit - Package C6 returned after a reboot.

If you are using the latest bios for your motherboard, there isn't much you can do.
