CPU Plug-In Problems

When I plug in my CPU using a 4 pin connector, my whole system will not turn on for some reason. If I unplug the CPU power supply the system will turn on. Anyone know a fix to this?
I have an intel CPU with an ASUS motherboard. It is also noted that if i unplug the CPU and turn the machine on nothing shows up on my monitor. Feel free to leave questions if you need anything cleared up.

If you unplug the CPU, of course you won't see anything. Does your CPU require an 8 pin connector? If it does, and your motherboard only only has a 4 pin, you will not be able to use it.

Slashbone, are you forcing in the wrong side of the 8 pin connector?

I checked the motherboard manual the CPU power only requires a 4 pin connector. Still not sure whats wrong.

To clear up what I said above, there is only a 4 pin connector to plug in, no 8 pin connector

Tried almost everything except breadboarding, if nothing else works ill just pull everything out and do a bread board.

Are you sure you aren't plugging a pcie connector into your motherboard?
