Hi friends

I lost the video output of my Hp Pavallion desktop p5367 c b bundle last month . I found a duplicate MOBO on ebay from a seller that claims it worked from the machine he yanked it from. So I switched boards. took the processor and heat sink and fans off and made the swap/ Reinstalled the mobo ,hook up everything correctly. I get a system fan, CPu fan and video! That's good thing.. I get a boot up error message that

unsupported cpu

Machine will shut down in a few seconds.

I read where similar persons have to flash the bios. something I have never done. I cant even know what processor I have to see if its supported by the MOBO. Don't know where to look online.

the board stencil ids are the same. m2n78-la the processor a AMD athalon 2 x4 620

I can get about one second of splash page ..I try all the fkeys f2 f9 f10 f12 I cant get into bios or anything else

Suggestions?

So after further research I find the MOBos are not the same with revision changes. an R c01 and c02

So I had a working Gigabit board with the same cpu soket. I removed the same amd processor and plugged it in the salvage HP MOBO.

Power it up and it lights, runs thru its boot sound chirps and spins all fans. This is a plane jane HP 6257 computer no mods.

After about 7-10 seconds the system completely powers down. Not even time for the splash page to light up video. then count 5 seconds of dead and it boots up by itself. and repeats the same process several times until I pull the plug physically.

what could this be ? power supply??? All the components are the same in the hp 6257 except MOBO and processor which I did not clear off paste to try to read.

The two MOBO revisions, do I think show online, that its a difference between athlon and Phenom cpus.

Before I rebuild the Gigabite working MOBO back together. what is going on?

thx

Lawrence
