More than 2 sticks of ram causing error.

Hi, i have Corsair 4x4GB CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 kit. Before that i was using 2x4GB other ram. I put rams to their places. After that i push power button and saw red ram light is on. Then i pulled off all rams and put back on original rams which is 2 sticks of 4GB. Then i decided to put back on Corsair rams but only 2 of them. It worked fine. Later i added 1 more but this time red light is on again. 2 of my motherboard's ram slots is blue (2nd and 4th) and other ones are black. I swapped rams to black ram slots and it worked. All i am saying is ram slots and rams are working but when i try to put other 2 rams red light turns on.

My CPU power one of CPU power cable is broken. Can this causing ram malfunctioning ?

If it is not then what should i do?

Thanks.

CPU: i5-3570
PSU: Asus Atlas A-55GA 550W ATX12V 2.01 Active PFC Power Supply.
MoBo: Asus P8Z77-M
RAM: 2x4GB CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9

Did you press the MemOK button on the board? That helps set the memory up to run with the board. Also using a 4x4GB kit isn't the best option as it tends to stress the memory controller. 2x8GB would be better

I did press 2 times. It restarts PC 5 or 6 times. Some times it blinks faster. In the end it is not works for me.
I did research before i but it. It is supported by motherboard. On their list there are few 2x8GB supported rams. So i bought this after i see that.
Thanks.

Possibly one of your new sticks is bad - just happened to me :). Would recommend running a single stick at a time and swapping each one at time to see if one fails on its own.
I am using 2 sticks (serial numbers are ends with 45 and 47). I swapped these ones and put other ones (serial numbers are ends with 44 and 46). It worked fine. And i also test 44 and 46 with my other PC which have 8GB ram. It worked (I saw 16GB, pull out again and put back this PC same thing again not working ). I have 4GB different speed and brand ram. I tried with that also. It didn't work either. So when i try to add more than 2 sticks PC doesn't post.

"My CPU power one of CPU power cable is broken" Does that mean you don't have a 6 pin cable plugged into your 6 pin CPU connector on the board? Yes it can affect the memory power. The reviews on your PSU are not that good. Sounds like your memory starving for power. I have heard of people having to raise the Memory voltage up a hair( 1.6Volts ) in the Bios with 4 sticks. Amazon says that kit is supposed to work, couldn't find it in the memory finder on the Corsair site (it not very good). manual is here https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...37.1590074637.1571064469-465498395.1538481818

Page 2-12 , may need to raise PCH from 1.050 to 1.051 volts. Dram voltage to 1.6 volts

This MoBo has 8pin CPU power and my PSU has 1 8pin cable which 1 of these pin cables is broken. I don't remember is it ground or normal one. I overclocked my CPU to 4GHz and i am using XMP on my 2 sticks of rams. When i saw this error i set everything to default values. It didn't make any difference. My PSU is 2nd hand but we (Me and my uncle. He is electrician) checked all cables using multimeter and sticker which shows all cables voltages. It was all ok except this broken cable. At that time i had 2 sticks of other brand rams and we didn't noticed any issue. We leaved that cable because i know my CPU doesn't need that much power.

On my ram sticker it says: 1.50V version 5.21.
Do i need to change that despite of sticker.
If i should, i can do that.
Also ram link: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...-DDR3-Memory-Kit/p/CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9#tab-faqs

Do i try to repair it ? Maybe i should sell my rams and get another MoBo later. Because other people also having this issue. I know i should bought 2x8GB but there are few supported kits in MoBo list and it is hard to find old ram kits.

Thanks for your time.

You can try raising the ram voltage in the Bios , 1.6 volts wont hurt them and if it doesn't help put it back. Also if it doesnt help raise PCH from 1.050 to 1.051 volts Try that. I had to do that on an older board with 4 sticks of memory because 4 draws more current than two.

Thanks for advice.
I tried what you said (I raised PCH from 1.050 to 1.055 volts because there are no option for 1.051 ) and it didn't work.

What about the ram voltage to 1.6Volts? What Bios do you have? The have some ones to improve system stability and ram compatibility
Version 1504 2012/08/094.36 MBytes
P8Z77-M BIOS 1504
1.Improve compatibility with Windows 8 OS.
2.Improve system stability.
3.Improve memory compatibility
They have newer one than this also, the latest is Version 2203 2016/02/19

I am using 2203 version and i did increase ram voltage to 1.6Volts but after putting all rams i couldn't check voltages because computer didn't post. I am using Windows 10 pro 1903. I will change Mobo i guess. 😕
Thanks for you help and time again. :giggle:
