Question CPU power drop cause FPS drops.

In MSI afterburner I see strange Watt drops for example 25-27W dropping to 9 W causing massive FPS drops.
Only in newer games that use more resource.
No background applications are running.
Clean windows 10.
Drivers are up to date.

Tried to reinstall the GPU driver with DDU, didn't help.

Any idea what can cause this issue?

I have an MSI GE72MVR7RG laptop.

FHD display, 1x16 GB RAM version.

Laptops are notorious for bad cooling.
Space is limited, and the coolers are puny.
The throttle point for Intel is around 100c.
When that happens, the processor lowers the multiplier until the temperature goes down.
During that time your fps will drop and the demand on the gpu will also drop.
When the temperature goes down, the cycle will repeat.

If you monitor your temperatures with HWmonitor, you will not only see the current cpu temperature, but you should also see the max temperature.
If that max is anywhere near 100c, you are throttling.

What to do?
First, clear out any accumulation of dust in the cooling system.
You may have to disassemble the unit to get at the cooler.
Some will want to repaste the cpu cooler with top rated tim.

Perhaps a cooling pad with fans under the laptop will help with airflow.

You may find that if you set the windows maximum cpu performance to less than 100%
That will even out your performance. It might not hurt much if you play fast action shooters where the gpu is more important than the cpu.

Its not thermal throttling , I have new motherboard and cooler system in it. Half week old.
