CPU Processing Faster Than Standard Speed?

Hello, I have a i5-4670k 3.4 GHz processor and while running Prime95 (a stress test program), Cpu-z says that my processor is running at 3.8 GHz. I haven't overclocked the cpu at all, so is this normal or am I just lucky?

Ah, ok. So does this mean that the cpu automatically slightly overclocks itself when under heavy loads?

It only does that under heavy load AND if only one core is used. For thermal reasons, it never does that, if all cores are used.

Well, it seems to be doing it now. Does that mean only 1 core is running? That doesn't make very much sense to me...

Start the task manger and click on the performance tab. You can see the core activity there.

They are all working full speed.

I recommend using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility or Aida64 for your stress testing instead of Prime95. Also, check this guide out. I'm using it for my OC now. The videos are a little long, but if you want to overclock the right way, you need to do it slow and methodically with plenty of testing.
