which one is the direct x 12 beast?

DX12 has no advantage or disadvantage with either board. When it comes to GPU selection thats a different story, but any GPU will work with any board.

The 5820K is more powerful, the 6700k setup more future proof because it uses Skylake. Up to you.

Not necessarily no. It depends on the game and how it is programmed. Prior to DX12 there were plenty of games that could use all the cores in the CPU. As I said DX12 has nothing to do with it. The 6700k is just plain faster.

Few things with that board,

1. 2133 is the fastest memory it supports
2. It is not SLI compatible, so if you ever wanted to add a second GPU you can't (unless you switch to AMD)
3. Not really made for overclocking either. (not sure if that is important to you, but with a K processor, its kind of useless)

Instead of you get the ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming, it supports SLI, it supports the fastest DDR4 memory speeds, and it was made for overclocking.

Hello, I was wondering (Since Eddyke1 mentioned price was not important), if any of these motherboards were acceptable or if the Z170-PRO-GAMING was still the best.

Money no object the Maximus VIII Extreme will work and do what he wants.

I don't know about the Gigabhte, but I dont like them have had bad luck. I would take the ASUS anytime over it.
