I have an Asus h170 plus d3 mobo which supports ddr3 memory. From my old PC I have a kingston hyperx blu ddr3 1333mhz cl9 kit of 2x4gb. For my mobo I would buy a cpu intel core i5 6600 but that cpu supports ddr4 and ddr3l type of memory. If I but that processor and assamble everything would it run? With these RAM sticks this mobi and this exact cpu. Thanks.

Checked everything. The thing that is confusing me is that mobo is ddr3 and that way I cannot use ddr4 memory. Cpu supports ddr4 and ddr3l memory. My sticks are 1.8v-1.9v ddr3. And ddr3l memory is 1.35v. Question is would it work?

Your problem is that you don't have DDR3 "L" memory which works at lower voltage than non-L RAM.
DDR3 - 1.5 -1.6v
DDR3L - 1.35v
DDR4 -1.35v
Memory controller is in the CPU so higher memory voltage would also overload CPU potentially damaging it.

Thanks for your reply. I also read somewhere that I could use the ddr3 memory. Just i would need to reduce its voltage from the default to 1.35v in the voot menu. Could that work?

I agree with the ram voltage assumption.
Find compatible ram for this application before making the move to avoid possible damage to the system.

For the mobo and compatibility with the i5 6600, I must ask, what bios version are you running?
As scout said, you may need the newest bios to ensure compatibility.
I read that at the very least, bios version 0404 is needed for the 6600.
