CPU-RAM settings

I have an I7-950 and 3x2Gb of Corsair Cmp6gx3m3a1600c8 on a Gigabyte X58-UD3R. This triple channel and double data rate bussines confuses me. I think reccomended memory speed is 1066, will there be a performance increase if I run it at 1600?
What is the reccomended cpu/ram speed ratio with these, or some advice on optimum voltage and timings settings?


I'm not interested in overclocking, but I would do some if it ran with the stock coolers and if it would get me rid of the BSODs.
When i start up the comp after being allowed to cool off, it enters Windows, does a BSOD with MEMORY MANAGEMENT and restarts. After it warms up, starts up no problem. Please advise to BIOS recommended settings for MOBO, CPU and memory.

On advice from the corsair forum, I switched to XMP profile 2. Still BSOD's. Memtest reorted no errors.

Not all that familiar with your setup but you might try system basics from bios and go from there...It's the last among the options in last screen at end of bios [award]...

The first time i started my rig it worked fine. I left on for about a week and had no issues. The next boot up, it BSOD-ed and restarted two times, went into windows repair and then worked. Kept it on for about two weeks. Next boot-up, same thing. This week, it would not start at all. A lot of restarts, even went through "no boot disk" error.
The BSODs are about memory management. Memtest when it doesn't start showed about a trillion errors, after it starts no errors. Could it be something about temperature?

A couple questions that may help pinpoint the problem:

What brand and size Power supply are you using?
How old is the Power supply?
What is the max wattage being drawn by your video card?

What temperature is the MB reading at power up for CPU and board itself?
What temperature is the MB reading after being on for an hour?

Have you updated the BIOS? If not, I recommend starting there. I would also reset it to auto for the memory speed and timing.

I have an Antec NeoPower 500 bought last year. The max power draw for my 4830 is 110 W.
On startup i have a temp of 41. After an hour it goes to 51.

I've just figured out that my windows is shot. The problem is still there but now it never boots to windows. Just before loading windows, it restarts. Gonna give it a fresh install as soon as i get back from work.
Do you think my power supply can handle all my components? From my calculations it does, but I would like a second opinion

Your Power Supply can handle everything you've got there no problem.

130W for the CPU at full tilt.
10W for each HD.
I don't know about the MB and ram.
110W for the graphics card at full tilt.

You've got room to spare.
