So recently my computer would act up. Happened a few times in the last couple weeks. Like buffering or lagging when opening programs, or even new tabs in Firefox. When I first noticed it I ran OCCT and found my temps where much higher than in the past, like 90s. When I restarted the problem went away, though the temps where still high. I had reapplied the paste a couple months ago. So I replied the paste to test to see if problem. The temps did slightly improve, but the next day where back up in the 90s. My average has been in the past high 70s to low 80s.
So I left it like this for a few days, with normal use. Today I started noticing that buffering issue while playing a game. When testing the CPU with OCCT it jumped to high 90s before stopping the test, quite quickly. So I decided to try a different cooler as my current one is a AIO. Figured maybe the pump stopped working, or clogged. I used my cooler that came with CPU. Now I know, they suck. I was simply using it as a reference. I had not gotten 90s with it in the past. It ran about the same as the AIO did after the first reapply. low 90s, with restart and no buffering.
The buffering does happen when the CPU is NOT under load, really is the only time I notice. I think the overheating is a side affect of the CPU issue, but am unsure. I have never had a problem like this. Though it is a old CPU. I feel like the CPU might be going bad, though am unsure. Thanks.
Specs =
Intel Core i7-3770
ASUS P8H77-V LE
16GB G.SKILL Sniper Series
For good measure - ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 980
SSD and 850W power supply.
under load cpu specs = 1.22V 3802MHz
EDIT: Wanted to add while running OCCT I noticed a 10 degree difference between cores. Also when idle. Not constant, but does happen.
