Dear Community,

hereby i'm seeking for some CPU Recommendations for my old GPU "AMD HD 6950 2GB".
Currently i'm running my System with an Intel Core i5 750 Processor that even overclocked can't handle my GPU. My GPU-Usage is on the most Games scaling from 99% down to 60%, in my eyes that means that my CPU is way too slow to send all the important information to my GPU.

However, i've discussed with some people about this problem and some of them are saying that my CPU is a Bottleneck or the GPU runs bad.

So finally i want to hear some opinions from your side and a CPU Recommendation for my GPU.
Please just recommend a CPU that is strong enough for my AMD 6950, because i'm anyway going to buy a new System at Winter, but until then i want to use the whole Perfomance of my GPU.

(Please do not recommend a CPU that i way too expensive, it doesn't make sense with this older GPU anyway)

Best Regards,

Any updated i3 or i5 should do the trick.

The Radeon HD 6950 is roughly on par with, though perhaps a step below, the Radeon HD 7850 or R7 265. The I5-750 is aging, but still on par with a lot of recommended entry-level CPUs. I'm not entirely convinced that your CPU is necessarily bottlenecking your GPU, it could be a case that, when playing less demanding games, all that horsepower just isn't needed. Still, no harm in upgrading your rig.

I understand what you mean, but i don't really care so much about the GPU-Usage. But when the FPS dropping down from 90+ to 30+ and the GPU-Usage is scaling down, this could be pretty annoying. I have still low GPU-Usage in older Games... :/
