Hi guys , first time posting so sorry if format or contents are not correct !

So I just received my build , a i7 8700 3,2 ghz , gigabyte Z370 aorus gaming k3 , 16gb ram , Corsair TX750M PSU and a gtx 1060 6gb and a cooler from hyper .

I installed everything and when I went to awaken the beast , it lit up and then shut down after around 5 to 10 secs , turned back on and repeated this until I unplugged it . I then went to check the motherboard and it turns out that the CPU red light is on ( the one with « errors » such as DRAM CPU and system etc ... and I’m not 100% sure what’s the problem ! I’ve tried to swap ram and power supply and no luck there , tomorrow I’ll try another cpu and see where that goes .

So here’s my question , what do I do ? 🙁
And another question is :
My mother board and PSU 8 pins for cpu are different ex : on the PSU’s pins it goes square « house » « house » square and bottom 4 « house » square square « house » and on motherboard it’s not the same , is that the problem maybe?

Thanks and sorry again if not formatted nor in the right area!

X- post from my Reddit on r/buildapc and some one said I am mixing pci and cpu câble but to clarify , the psu cable has cpu written on it!

Solution
Look here to see what the cables look like.

Your CPU needs an 8 Pin EPS, not to be confused with the 8 pin PCIExpress.

There are 4 LEDS top left is CPU top right is DRAM, bottom left is VGA and bottom right is Boot status.

If it is the CPU light then.
- Check power cables
- Check Heatsink (connected and proper thermal paste)
- remove CPU and check for bent pins on motherboard
be very careful that you don't confuse the CPU power for a PCIe power cable for graphics. Not that it should be possible

Hi , thanks for replying , it is a Corsair TX750M , with two main cables , the thick one being the motherboard 24pin (I beleive it’s 24?) and the « CPU » cable , then slots for « type 4 » cables and some 8 pins also I think (not 100% sure but I think it’s for the hdd / ssd power and gpu card/s cables ... but as I said , the cable clearly states « cpu » « pci e » « type 4 » but the cpu cable that is not detachable , is not the same pin pattern as my motherboard. I haven’t had time to swap around pieces with my current build , but really confused on what could be the problem... thanks again!

Édit : my graphics card is a 1060 , gigabyte and takes a 6 pin (and on that cable there is a 2 pin that you can eventually add but no other 8 pins except the « cpu » main cable and some 8 pins that go into the PSU itself
