Question CPU red light issues (I've tried almost everything) ?

Hey guys, recently I decided to upgrade my CPU and GPU and after almost two days of trying things out and buying different things I'm at my wits end. I DID NOT expect to have this many issues doing this. Especially considering I've built a PC before.

To start my specs;

Asus B550-Plus Motherboard (Ryzen 5000 ready on box)
Ryzen 5600 CPU
Nvidia 3080 GPU
two 8gb corsair DDR4 ram (Board doesn't support DDR5 😒)
NVMe 1tb drive
500gb Samsung SSD

The problems are weird.

When I boot it up I get a red light on my CPU check. I've tried almost everything outside of a USB Flash bios update (Board doesn't support flash but is advertised as being ready to support all gen three ryzen chips);

  • I've reseated the CPU multiple times.
  • I checked the CPU pins.
  • I've taken out the Ram and put one stick in in multiple areas.
  • I've checked all the cables and put them in again.
  • I tried shorting the BIOS as well. No luck.

I havent taken out the CMOS battery though.

Here is where it gets weird, I can't even start the BIOS (Don't know if that is because of the CPU). When I start it up with my GPU plugged in to my monitor I get to the Asus "pres del or f2" screen to access bios but nothing happens when I press both those buttons. My keyboard is plugged in. The lights are on, but no movement. I don't have a ps2 slot so I cant try that for a keyboard. I tried disconnecting my GPU and plugging my monitor directly to the board but when I do that I don't get any signal on the monitor at all. Just a black screen.

Is it possible I bought a defective card? Never had anything like this before happen. The worst part is that I can't try my old CPU because one of the pin is slightly bent and Id rather not damage the motherboard.

What do you think? What a nightmare. I've never run into so many compatibility issues. And shame on me for buying the one Motherboard with absolutely minimal ways to trouble shoot problems.

What's the *exact* motherboard? ASUS has a like six or seven motherboards with B550 Plus in the name somewhere.

And Ryzen 5000 ready does not mean ready for a 5600. The 5600 (and a couple others) came out a year and a half after the main run of the Ryzen 5000 CPUs, so a BIOS that supports Ryzen 5000 CPUs can easily not support it. For example, on the TUF Gaming B550-PLUS, the BIOS that added microcode for a 5600 came out a full year after the one that supported the 5600X, 5800X, and 5900X.

There ought to be a sticker somewhere on the motherboard that tells you the BIOS version. That's what you're supposed to rely on, not a box that can't envision releases after manufacturing.

It's BIOS 3002 on this page:

The board itself was manufactured 05 / 2023

How do you know the BIOS version is 3002, (if you cant access the BIOS screen,) was it on a sticker on the motherboard itself?
