Hello,
While gaming (CPU usage at around 40%) my CPU has been operating at 85-90 degrees C and this seems extremely hot when the usage is only 40%. System Readouts.
Even during normal usage the fan is constantly on and the temperature is usually in the sixties.
Is this normal? Would you advise contacting the manufacturer as this laptop is still within warranty?
The issue is not dust related as I regularly clean the computer.
I have an i7-3632QM processor, hasn't been modified in any way.
Thanks,

Assumed so. The laptop is only two years old and luckily I purchased an extended four year warranty for it. Its always been used on appropriate surfaces and is cleaned often so it is questionable to why is has recently (in the last six months) become significantly hotter. When I originally purchased the laptop the fan hardly ever turned on but not it is most always on, even now when I only have Chrome open.

Could possibly be a myriad of problems such as dust buildup and the thermal paste getting old, And 90C at 40% is something I've overlooked, and definitely isn't supposed to happen.

Definitely get it checked out by the manufacturer before resorting to anything else.

Okay, thank you! I've contacted Vaio and I'll wait for them to reply.

I hope everything goes well :)

It sounds like to me that one of your fans maybe broken as if it is not a dust issue. This is probably happening as one fan has to work harder which results in the constant fan noise but is it strange that it is not able to cool the laptop down as 90 is quite high.

Definetly get in touch with the manufacturer and let them know this as this may speed up the time they fix it.
