This is a strange one, I've done a quick google search as per the title, and all I got was a bunch of "CPU suddenly running hotter" Which is normal.

However, mine is running cooler. Which isn't a bad thing. But I wouldn't mind some speculation as to why.
I have a 5820k overclocked to 4.41ghz with 1.248v, cooled with an NZXT kraken x52.
Normally this gets into the low 70s under a stress test except for core 3 which gets to as high as 77c.
With 40s to 50s idling.

Now all of a sudden it is about 12c cooler over all. Both in load and idle temps.
The only thing that happened which was different was that I powered up the PC, and something was whining, I think the pump. But it soon stopped. It might be going out in a blaze of glory and pumping more water than usual. Or maybe the pump was never working properly and it has all of a sudden kicked into gear?
All the bios settings are the same, I've checked with cpu-z that the overclocks and voltages are applied in winndows too.
