PC Specs:
i5-4690k
GTX 970
20GB RAM
EVGA 500W
MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE

I bought a new 4690k to replace my old i5-2400. I bought a MSI Z87-G41 motherboard off a guy I go to school with for $50, some of the CPU pins were bent so I took a needle and bent them back into place and it seems to work fine. The problem is that I am getting roughly the same, or sometimes worse performance in games compared to the 2400, with MUCH more CPU usage. On idle I get 10-20% CPU usage, I tested the 4690k in Space Engineers and it went up to 92% usage and hovered around 70-80% while only giving 15-20fps, I used to get ~40fps on my i5-2400. Idle the CPU is at 25C, and under load it can get up to 100C, I am using the stock cooler. I'm just wondering if the problem has something to do with the motherboard or if the CPU is faulty.

Update:
After looking around a bit (like I should have in the first place) I guess I am supposed to reinstall my OS after a Motherboard/CPU upgrade.

Solution
Yea or there will be all sorts of things windows freaks out about especially changing boards. And make sure your thermal paste is applied correctly to help with temps if that problem persists through the reinstall.
