hi after my new build pc didn't turn on. (didn't respond at all) i found out that a pin in the cpu socket was bent. only 1 pin was bent the rest of the socket was fine. (socket 1151). i haven't checked the socket before installing the cpu. maybe stupid, but you assume everything is fine :)

i don't think it was caused by me because only one pin was bent and not anymore. and i placed enough cpu's on know how to do it :) still i fear that the warranty won't cover it. But then the pc haven't shown any sign of life at all.

Chances are good that if you have a needle or other similarly small pointy object, you can bend the pin back. Some pins are redundant, and serve as extra grounds, but many are not and having the wrong one out of place can prevent POST. However, no POST can be caused by many other things too.

i don't know if i should bend it back. i am currently awaiting response from the retailer. it could void my warranty if i still got it like i said it doesn't do anything. even the power switch on the mobo does nothing. so it doesn't even enter POST

it's a new PSU still it's possible. I hear a faint bussing noise from the PSU whe it's plugged in

thx i shall rma the board. like eckey anweserd. Could it also be the PSU? i believe he is right in that the pc should start even with no cpu contact
