CPU speed and diminishing returns on FPS

I remember Tom's had an article out a while ago that showed the diminishing returns of higher CPU clock speeds in gaming performance. Anyone got a link to it?

What I'm trying to figure out is if I should even bother trying to push my OC further. I'm using an E8500 @ 4.0 / ~1.25V. I don't do any photo/movie editing or other intensive tasks besides gaming.

I can't seem to find the article you're looking for. If it were up to me though, if everything's fine already the way it is, why bother? That's just me though.

I dont think its worth it. On my setup with radeon 4850 and 2gb of ram the difference between running cpu at 3.4 and 3.9 gives around 3fps difference in Crysis. Considering the extra voltage, heat and stress on cpu, to me thats nowhere near worth it. And i dont think 4ghz e8500 would bottleneck any gfx available on the market atm. Just like r_manic said, if its working fine than leave is as it is.
