CPU spiked to 100C during games

Hi, I recently replaced my amd hd6670 with amd r9 280. My pc was fine before the replacement but after that, it keeps crashing during games. I tested gpu and is fine. So I tested the cpu and cpu temperature is spiking under load. It'll reach up to 90+C and I only have a stock CPU fan.
I'm planning to get a cooler but I just want to make sure if the CPU is still ok to use?
My cpu is intel i7 3770

You have a good CPU, no need to upgrade unless the CPU is actually damaged. Buy a new cooler (Hyper 212 Evo is a very good air cooler for the price) and apply thermal paste properly. A lot of people forget to apply thermal paste and they wonder why their CPU runs so hot at idle.

Stock Intel coolers aren't great but you're not overclocking (assuming you actually meant i7 3770 rather than the i7 3770k).

You may have disturbed the stock cooler when fitting the new card. Cleaning off the thermal paste and replacing it will probably sort the problem.

I would suggest getting a aftermarket cooler also.
