CPU Strap vs Ratio?

Which one is more logical for a good overclock?
Right now, with my asus rampage iv black edition and 4930K combo I can do either 125MHz at 37x or 100MHz at 46x, both stable with 1.25v vcore..

The first one gives you 25MHZ more.
Haven't overclocked anything that new, but in the old days we went for the highest bus speed because it boosted your memory too.
As well as changing the clock was rarely an option.

That is not coupled anymore, so that part doesn't mater.

the STRAP is the speed at which you are running your memory
this used to be called FSB or frontside bus. but same thing its the speed at which your CPU communicates with the RAM.

as the speed of a processor is determined by the FSB / STRAP / BCLK multiplied against the multiplier to give the frequency.

you can do it either way. if your memory can handle the extra speed then you will get slightly better performance than just doing the multiplier alone.

before the days of unlocked multipliers the only way to over clock was changing the FSB / BCLK.
