I ahve an amd a8-7600 and after 3 days of using it got stuck at 0.76 ghz on high performance mode and it got to 1.3ghz on power saving mode but still stuck at 2.14 while smal ffts
specs
amd r7 240
atx 500w power supply
1tb
6 gb ram
my last cpu was an amd athlon x2 340.

Go into the BIOS like you did, and press F7 to load default settings. Or go to the Save & Exit tab and select "Load optimized Defaults". This will reset all your changes. Then go back to Windows and verify the temps and frequency.

my motherboard is a ga-f2a58m-hd2 gigabyte and i use taks manager and amd overdrive both with the same result.
Yes i have changed the clock ratio on my bios but just a little bit but it had no difference, and i use the stock cooler

What is the frequency you are trying to reach?

First, in order to overclock your CPU, you need the right components; the right CPU, the right motherboard, a good aftermarket cooler to keep your CPU temps down and a good power supply.

Your APU has a locked multiplier, which means that in order to overclock you will have to raise the base clock, which will cause the rest of the components clocks to raise too. This will cause instability. Processors with locked multipliers can only be overclocked about 100 to 200 mhz at best.

500 Watts means nothing if your power supply is not a quality one.

Your motherboard has only a 4+1 power phase, with no heatsinks on the VRM of your motherboard. This will severely limit your ability to overclock. Not even worth the try. During a stress test using new overclocking settings the CPU will just throttle to cool down the VRM's.

Your APU has 3.1 ghz of stock frequency and a Turbo frequency of 3.8 ghz, and usually it is recommended to disable Turbo when overclocking. If anything I would leave everything at stock on BIOS and just leave the Turbo ON.

Your APU's max recommended safe temp is 71C and you are already at 67C. Don't overclock... Go back to BIOS and leave everything to default. Also make sure your CPU cooler is properly seated.

Being interested in overclocking is not a bad thing, you just need the right components. I can help you out with that if you wish and have the budget to replace the parts.

Im trying to reach the minimum speed the cpu has (3.1) i dont really know what to do.Should i get a new cooler? And is there a way to reset the settings ive done in my bios, because i dont remember them...
and i have a budget of 30 bucks so i think i would get a cooler and and a paste.
