So i recently purchased an i7 7700k and ASUS Z270-E from my brother (BIOS is up to date) and i overclocked my CPU to 4.8GHZ(*All cores sync to 48x and power/voltage on auto). My fans can be abit loud at times so I would like my CPU to automatically down clock to obtain lower temperatures on idle/surfing the internet. I tired to set the minimum processor state to 20% on Windows power plan: https://imgur.com/a/266jWU9
But it is still locked at 4.8GHZ ± 400MHZ (Still too Overclocked for idle): https://imgur.com/a/0qrluUP

Im still new to overclocking so here are all my settings in BIOS for a 4.8GHZ overclock on a i7 7700k... I will take any advice including overclocking tips/suggestions! :wahoo:

hello there i have had the same issue after installing new update for bios, i only overclock to 4600 MHz and for couple of days i was stuck wondering why my i7 7700 K is always sitting on 4600 MHz and 0% usage, i tried everything from in bios it wasn't the problem, my problem was in power management in - Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options the new bios selected driver booster power plan says activate this for gaming mode boosting. once i changed that back to balanced mine was solved and returned back to 799 MHz on idle. hope that helps you out

I know in my bios you have the option of changing the base clock and the boost clock. If your bios has this option return base clock to stock and adjust the boost clock, but make sure to manually set your vcore if you do this.
