I recently got a new graphics card ( NVIDIA Gefore GTX 970 (MSI) and I ran Far Cry 4 But at high or even normal graphics setting i was lagging so i asked one of my friends and he suggested i download speccy to see what my temp were at.
Windows 7 64-bit
CPU-intel core i5 3570K 3.40GHz (102C temp)
Ram-8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 797MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard- ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8B75-V (LGA1155) (25C temp)
Graphics- 4095MB NVIDIA Gefore GTX 970(MSI) (61C Temp)
My friend said that my CPU isent good enough to support how recent my graphics card is and using all its processing power on it and thats why its over heating also he said it would help fix the lag.

Guys,

It's highly likely that one of the cooler's push pins has popped loose from the motherboard.

eric1030,

Your processor is reaching Throttle temperature, which is 105C for your i5 3570K. This is why you're experiencing lag. As I mentioned above, the cause is a loose push pin.

To troubleshoot this problem, run your rig so that you reproduce the high temperature conditions. While keeping an eye on the temperatures, press down firmly for about 30 seconds on each corner of Intel's stock cooler. When you see a significant temperature drop, you've found the loose push pin.

Try a different monitoring program like core temp to check the temps, Some programs report differently, just double check that 100 reading cause that is way too hot.

when is the last time the cooling fins were cleaned out? may want to check if they are filled with dust. you could always upgrade teh cooling, but that isnt necessarily a "fix" for it, any more than it is a bandaid. may need to reapply thermal paste too.

This Guide will explain in detail how to get your cooler securely attached, which will fix your problem.

If you don't plan to overclock, then Intel's stock cooler is adequate. However, if your rig has been running for 2 years or so, then as others have suggested, you might want to plan on replacing the thermal compound in the not-too-distant future. For now, it'll be OK if you get the cooler securely attached with the existing thermal compound.

No, it will not perform better than the 30 dollar hyper 212 evo, you want to use an aircooler so the vrms get some active cooling.

Also, try what Computronix has listed, but id say the stock cooler is insufficient based on how it cools my i3.
