Greetings Tom's Hardware.
I was web browsing while running prime95 when i turned on HWMonitor to monitor my CPU temps on idle when i noticed my i5 4460 was running at 100 degrees Celsius. I booted up XTU to see if it was faulty reading but it said the temps were also at 100 degrees and was actually thermal throttling. I'm currently using a Deepcool Ice Edge mini heatsink with this CPU and checked if its fan was working. It was. Can anyone tell me if this is just a system glitch? Because as far as I recall my i5 should've shut down when it reached a certain temp. This heat sink has been in my PC for the past year and has kept it on 40 degrees idle and a max of 60 degrees on load.
