edit ok i am confused now,

Speccy is showing current CPU temp around 90c
whilst MSI command center is showing 49c
and i just downloaded another temp checker and it also says 50c

so speccy is just not reliable

...

Just decided today to download speccy, i havent checked the stats of my pc in quite a few months(at least 4 months) and today my CPU temp is running between 80-93c. Thats really high(its on idle) and i have no clue why. My current fan speed is fluctuating between 1500-1700rpm. Mobo temp is fine (32c), temps on other parts are fine. No high cpu usage at this moment. >2%

What should i do?

This is my first pc, i built back in october i think it was, the cpu fan it came with already had thermal paste applied. Everything was working fine for several months when i first built this.

amd ryzen 5 cpu
b450 tomahawk mobo

Considering the readings you are seeing in other apps, I'm very inclined to believe Speccy is providing false temperature readings.
Speccy has other bugs as well, such as the inablility to read the correct amount of VRAM on grpahics cards with more than 4GB available - usually only reporting half the actual amount of VRAM, when the total amount is more than 4GB.
I've often seen other critically high temperature readings from sensors that are not even available on a specific motherboard, for example.
I don't have much trust in Speccy when it comes reliability and accuracy.

Personally I would use HWInfo or CoreTemp for more reliable temperature readings. If the temperature readings are different from Speccy, I would personally trust...

It might be.
You could also try HWInfo and Afterburner.
I think it's probably Speccy.

Yeah thats what i am thinking. I downloaded core temp and it reads around 50c so ill trust that.

Freaked me out for a bit there not gonna lie, haha

I can definately understand why, if your CPU was actually idling at close to 90'c, that would be a fairly big concern.

But if a CPU is actually that hot, close to 90'c or more, I would expect that you'd get an overheating alert from BIOS when the system POSTs,. I'd be surprised if most current motherboards doesn't have that feature
