Hello,
A few months back I purchased an AMD FX-8350 8-core Processor. Installment of the CPU went well, normal precautions were taken. On specific games, such as battlefield 1, recently I've been getting random FPS drops down to 30 fps or lower, when I usually average around 90 fps. I checking the CPU Temp and every about 30 seconds the temperature would shoot up to 255°C, then it'd slowly climb back down to around 35°C.

I'm not sure what's causing this but help would be appreciated.

Specs:

CPU - AMD FX-8350 8-Core Processor 4.00GHz (With Hyper 212 Evo Cooler)
GPU - GTX 970 4gb
RAM - 8gb DDR3
Motherboard - MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) (MS-7641)
Power Supply - Thermaltake TR2 600w Power Supply

Solution
It's not a sensor malfunction, that msi p23 board is incapable if running a 125w cpu properly.

The 255c reading is forced on purpose via msi's board bios to cause the chip to throttle to get the vrm temps back in check.
