Hi there,

For the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing some very high CPU temperatures at idle.

Here are my temperatures shown in SpeedFan. Similar temperatures are shown in HWMonitor.

specs are:

MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
MSI GTX 1060 6G Gaming Edition
AMD FX 8350 (Stock Voltages. I haven't overclocked)
Stock CPU Heatsink and fan
I have like 4 case fans, I'm not sure what mm they are :/
8GB RAM
1TB harddrive
Windows 10 Pro 64Bit

I am using arctic silver 5 thermal compound, which I have reapplied twice. I have resit my cpu heatsink and fan twice. I have run a virus scan and no viruses were found.

These are the temperatures when just running chrome and windows explorer.

It is turning as I'm looking at it now. It is turning bloody fast.

If you're not experiencing thermal throttling or performance issues, I would consider leaving it alone. What does CoreTemp report your temperatures to be?

The screenshot below shows readings from HWMonitor, Core Temp, and SpeedFan at the same time.

I believe it's pretty good. At the moment I've got my side panel off (so minus 2 fans) and it's around 36C. When I put it back on and add the 2 fans back on, It's around the same. It seems to be at certain time, and mainly at startup where it's 60/70C.

I opened minecraft up and it went to 57C. Surely minecraft isn't that CPU hungry? CPU usage is it ~45%. When I close minecraft it ends up down to 39C and spikes to 44C
